My Life-effecting Road To California Quilt Exhibit 2020
I learned and much needed inspiration this year -- it's always my birthday month of January and I choose to travel via a good quilt show! Here are a few quilt friends and quilts!
OK.... Black quilt guild of Los Angeles.... I want you to call me as a$1.00 winner of HOT FLASHES
Quilt art - artistic beyond galore
This fun guy.... with another award winning FACE PHOTO of a beautiful black woman/pattern!
Wicked Stitches and Tension that LOOP
Think with me for a minute.... something really wicked seems to happen to thread tension... when I stop long-arm machine for a day or two. I travelled to the Road to California QUILT show last weekend.... not it back to customer orders.
OK. It was somewhat instinctive that I could see the top thread loose.... OH but the loopy loops when you and I peek on the underside.

Shouldn't be to hard to pull out. and redo.... Plus I'm 5/8th's along towards the finish.!!!

Thoughtfully ~ Thursday Quilt Day
I'm musing over my own well-being. I'm formulating a couple of quilt projects for publication. I'm pondering whether to make a road trip to a regional quilt show....
In the meantime, this is a work in progress!
A new quilt friend found me at the Centennial Quilters group -- she wants a long-rammer (should I say it as such....????smile) because she's a quick stitcher... and she has a stack of 20+ quilts
These are 20 inch sail boat blocks (4) centered and simply surrounded.
A simple meander will do. I'll do a fairly quick one week turn-around for her
It's my birthday month..... This is my super support sister/friend !! that smile1!!!

Finding Fabric - A Welcome Collision
QUILT INSPIRATIONS
Browsing thru a book again..... Carol Sterbenz spoke of Inspiration...... as a collision of what I desire, the talent I possess and my imagination!
... So you may know I'm the ultimate garage sale // yard sale // Estate Sale shopper... Any antique store that can be browsed.... I'll find it. So I collided with a fantastic fabric find.... Unusual stuff, kinda of an eclectic looking white lady was dismantling collections of stuff. When I picked up two - three sets of fabric tossed carelessly in a box -- she said "the big pieces are $3.00 each... $1.00 for the rest. It's from Africa".
When I continue to show like interest and browse around.... I keep a careful eye on who else walks up on the driveway and might see the fabric. So... I go back... and the sale is made. She was overcharging on several little items. I put them back --- paid out $6.00 and literally ran! I sensed she knew she had understated..... kinda wanted to change price.... But I ran. BARGAIN OF THE YEAR I'D SAY

This was over six yards..... and yes quality. Not smelly, not stained. Strength in the fabric content. Definitely not a JOANN waxy fabric from China.... I know my fabric feel!! It actually has a pinkish tint surrounding the pale yellow and green.... again - not the commercially printed deep orange/yellow/green at Joanns Fabric Store.
I'd say authentic since my brother and son have given me fabric from their visits to the African continent/Military travels!

Happy Children's WIP WEDNESDAY
THIS WEEK'S WORK n PLAY!
I was given a couple of Children's Church Choir t-shirts in order to create a quilt to be hung in upcoming St. John Centennial Quilt Exhibit in November 2019
Our small group of quilting' ladies received a small ton of SMOKE Tainted..... that is the home of the quilt lady really, really smelled of smoke. So the small ton of fabric was received gratefully... washing and ironed! And WOW..... a real assortment of fabric did we receive!''
So here's to happy. Orange is my sister's favorite color!!! Here's to Tana DeNise !1 Hope to finish piecing the top this week..... zip a pretty backing and move it to the quilting frame!
VISIT ALL AROUND....... I'M JOINING / LINKING WITH QUILT FABRICATION FOR THIS WEEKS WIP WEDNESDAYS!

Quilter's Story Line
Thus, and indeed QUILTIN' THE QUILT becomes a very special process, stitch by stitch I can see a transformation of fabric, batting and backing stretched even and flat. And a-ha ! The final roll and fold and clamp is in sight. (Minus a few thread breaks or bobbin re-winds). I'll blog what I learn about thread weight and tension on my Coronet longarm as time goes on.....
Hoping your find the same joy in holding the finished product of an official QUILT. A label, the binding and a hanging sleeve prepares the quilt for the owner and upcoming quilt show!
