Alliance for American Quilts SOS

I been asked by Judy Howard to make a statement in a patriotic flag wall hanging for a traveling exhibit--it will most likely reflect our 44th president on it ----- Take a look at this PDF file of the Obama quilts.

Me and My Machine . ..

It's a Pfaff - I'm black not german.... so duh if I can't remember the pronunciation.... Kinda aggravates me. Also believe it or not -- its a top line Creative Vision Embroidery unit. I seldom attach it... and I didn't get a color screen. I need a laptop... Thinking about a trade back or down. But then again, my learning curve is down right now. And I'm not a part of a club to learn how-to's.

Still this is my sanctuary.... I will pass by... and think and try to tidy up.... so the world will think well of me. But alas.... I'm strip sewing, and paper pieceing, and appliquing ... so many small pieces for the Art4Mail fabric post card swap....

I watched a movie last night w/hubby: the light was on my sewing machine???? I'm working on my fabric postcard swap. I have three quilts that need to be quilted longarm by my buddy.

I'm also posting to ETSY.... These finished wall hanging and kid sized quilts were a part of my Harding school display.

Truly Inspired by Harlem Era 1920-30's

This is a Winslow Homer photo downloaded internet. I intend to set aside time to read "Nella Larsen" 3 stories compiled. Oklahoma City Museum (April 09) rece'd a 5 star rating for its Harlem Renaissance. I'm looking for some long lost books and paintings by blacks since learning a variety of names and places. My friend June signed up-and rec'd a free museum gift which included great photos and Larsen book (she gave me the entire package!)

Kind-of-a-slow blah.... but blogable day

Sooooo, as I browsed my pic's, I fondly thought of my friend, who is a pioneer in Oklahoma State History... I especially wanted this pic with him... He's E. Melvin... our Senator Porter. I should also get him to sign a quilt block, and a book for me!
U might notice I've added another Oklahoma great alongside Mr. Porter.... Hubby fussed that, where was I... where's my photo... plus we reminisced years ago when we cherished a chance to have Mrs. Clara Luper stand with us for a photo...

Lawd God, chile, I jes weahs de world lak a loose garment

Let us all make a vow that from henceforth we will not belong to the class of discouraging women. A negro mammy was once asked why, in the faceof many discouragements...HOW she could find the COURAGE to be cheerful.....

adapted from McCalls Magazine, pg 92 New York, September 1914 (price 50 cent a year) One of my recent collectibles! I'd call this common sense BPs advice for 2009
