Oklahoma Quiltin to come!

Quiltin is therapy for the mind and spirit!

Wonderful Thursday here in Oklahoma City.  I made so-so many blessed contacts at the grand opening of “our” Senior Health & Wellness Center!!   As President of first Black Quilt Guild in NE OKC —-  my goodwill and simple service-plus lifelong contacts and a new generation of 40-50 yr old talented professionals black folk!!!

My quilt connections are enormous-God’s blessings are abundant towards a Great future of Quiltin days to come.  On Every wall and room — I envisioned fiber artwork-quilts on display by Oklahomans next year!

OHCE 2023 Luncheon

I love it!   I find most often that people who work with fabric, threads, beads and buttons  are settled, warm, earthy and hospitable!   My fabric my sensory pleasure …. It seems to ground me!   Then my creative visions bloom!

And

Textile people are also people-people. They hardly ever work in isolation. Weaving, dyeing, embroidery, quilting and other forms of needle art are group activities, community projects, family businesses, and in many cases the livelihood of a whole village or region. This is the place where folklore is passed on from generation to generation, where young girls learn from the wisdom of the older generation, and where people take care of each other – physically and emotionally.
