A Prescription to Circumvent A Depressed Moment
"You can't always change things. Sometimes you don't have no control over the way things go. Hail ruins the crops or fire burns you out. And then you're just given so much to work with in life and you have to do the best you can with what you got.
That's what piecing is..... The materials is passed on to you ~ or is all you can afford to buy . . . that's just what's give to you. YOUR FATE...???...
But the way you put them together is your business"
pg 37; Erica Wilson 1979 Quilts of America (Oxmoore House, Inc. Birmingham, USA)

Obama Quilters Scheduled to Meet
This is a jean quilt in the works with T-shirt images of MLK and Obama and wording all around!
So, I'm really pulled towards taking a basic pointed star pattern or a medallion center - around which I can pull in images of Justice, Freedom, Struggles in Medicine, Law, Education.... along with our Inventors and Musicians Louie Armstrong, & Marian Anderson, Boxer Jack Jackson, Air Pilot Black Lady. Postal stamps are legendary for a show of our successes.

Life's A Quilt

Dolly sits a-quilting by her mother, stitch by stitch,
Gracious, how my pulses throb, how my fingers itch,
While I note her dainty waist and her slender hand,
As she matches this and that, she stitches strand by strand.
And I long to tell her Life’s a quilt and I’m a patch;
Love will do the stitching if she’ll only be my match.
Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906)

My Tulsa girlfriend is quiltin up a storm!
This wil be a beauty!!!
The black center in this Log Cabin will remind you of the Underground Railroad quilt story. I found this material -- a really good selection -- at the Edmond,OK Hancock Fabric store (2nd & Bryant). The gold and brown, and orange and yellow tones always feel so comforting!
