The four corner stars were a bit frightful..... but delightful.  I DID NOT.... go for the set in seams.....

A Black Quilt Girl.....

This is really an inner part of me.....   I've been intrigued with images of US black women on fabric over the past 7-8 years.   I buy at random cuts.  

Note.... I don't see many images of black men  (none???) on fabric.    Future adventure /fullfillmen for me....???  YEP!

So, in my stash of saved fabric.... I have all these little black girls.... and they end up beautifully in my quilts!

 

 

I really want to grow very old.... peaceful and content regardless of ailments....

... my favorite song ... is

Dionne Warwick and Luther and Whitney.... That's what friends are for....!!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since Jan 1-2013 --- Lone Star Quiltin !!

It's a go....go....go.... on this Lone Star quilt!!!

I began to cut and sew faster.... multiple bands.... and I'm finding the last bands are kinda buckling.... not quite laying flat on the diagonal.... hmnnnnmmmm....

 

But I pushed on through.... All eight stars are done.... 

Setting in the white squares.... I better take my time and sew intersecting points by hand!!!

 

 

 

Wow I did it ....My Life Story!

This is my life story..... no joke....

On the above post .... I automatically wrote 2012..... while mentally thinking of 2013 as the NEW YEAR !!

Back in January 9th -- 1954  ---  I was a delivered "at home" with my grandmother Martha Sipuel as the nurse-maid....I was born on her birthday-- yippee ---  Daddy called for an elderly doctor to deliver me...  (so old... that while he might have charged $35.00.... daddy paid $5 and would pay-out the balance!!!  Story goes that Doc died... and my price was reduced!)  Doctor took the birth certificate and wrote JANUARY 9th... 1953!

Ta-Dah.....  my smart daddy and big mama said to themselves.... let's not change it...... Beverly can draw her social security benefits early....  I also started school early in a small rural town....  I never saw my birth certificate until I was sixteen yrs old to drive.....  and was therefore confused!!

Lone Star 2012 - Machine Piecing

Well, I sat for 6-8-12 hours in my sewing room.   I rearranged several fabric stacks.... looked at some books.... and low and behold...

This is a 1994 magazine.... and the instructions were minimal....just cut the diamond and stitch a color sequence....  So the Lone Star will be my beginning project!!

I followed the color sequence..... from my scrap stash....started with a light pink print beneath the bright yellow....... but I keep digging around....

Old Papa and Hubby called for some dinner steaks.....

And what should my eyes behold..... but Princess Tiana !

OK ... so I cut some more .... laid out my design...
