Staff and faculty milled quickly around the room, helping and showing awe at the new block settings!  

I impressed each person to parallel their own family life stories with the hardships and triumphs faced by escaping blacks.  Men and women quilted out of necessity… and then to shape signals or maybe to make special fabric treasures!
