"What a Wonderful World" [1970 Spoken Introduction Version] along with Oliver Nelson's Orchestra is a song written by Bob Thiele (as George Douglas) and George David Weiss. It was first recorded by Louis Armstrong and released as a single in 1968. Thiele and Weiss were both prominent in the music world (Thiele as a producer and Weiss as a composer/performer). Armstrong's recording was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. Intended as an antidote for the increasingly racially and politically charged climate of everyday life in the United States, the song also has a hopeful, optimistic tone with regard to the future, with reference to babies being born into the world and having much to look forward to. The song was initially offered to Tony Bennett, who turned it down. Thereafter, it was offered to Louis Armstrong.

How about all them wars all over the place? You call them wonderful?

And how about hunger and pollution? That ain't so wonderful either."

Well how about listening to old Pops for a minute. Seems to me, it aint the world that's so bad but what we're doin' to it.

And all I'm saying is, see, what a wonderful world it would be if only we'd give it a chance. Love baby, love. That's the secret, yeah. If lots more of us loved each other, we'd solve lots more problems. And then this world would be better.

Smile... Be happy.... my reflection of life!

 Just a Sunday at home with my family.....

Here's  my hosta... purchased it at Lowes... just a cute plant....  Officially it is a Patriot Hosta...medium sized Sport of Francee w/wider, more stunning, white margins on dark green leaves, a real show off as a specimen plant... (so the book says)!   In this regard, I planted it two years ago in the middle of the back yard to show off a bird/water stand... it didn't do so well with the sun and heat... and I think the hubby would slice the leaves off with his edger.. or maybe the neighbors cat messed over it.  So this year I wanted to save it, replant - restart in a medium sized pot, front yard shade and sun.   Just notice the two matching pots... One is ancient old, a little cracked and repainted several times as my daddy bought this urn (I have two of them) .... some old pictures may show the pot lived at the 4916 Wisconsin address/OKC.

 Next up, the tree my daddy planted... which is usually gorgeous this time of year... is looking a little lean......????

 But underneath the Harlem Moon,,,,,  uh tree -- is my planting... I expect the Sweet Potato Ivy will spill over to my duckies......  so cute!

Every Spring I want to turn this quilting blog into a planting blog....   Then it gets Summer time hot... So quilting sustains me time and energy!!!......................
I drove with my girlfriend to pick up a quilt from a new  LongArm quilter....   I have a family slight-looking feud.... that I think I'll spread a little love and pull a quilt-top out of the closet to have it quilted.... binding... and mail off as a unique marriage gift!!!

Ya know....  I been working this 8-5pm.... yearning to retire to full-time second career and expanding business opportunities...in quilting and other adventures !!!

I think I'll close my office door during lunch... so as not to get fired.... hmnnnn.....I can zip along a few extra stitches by hand and machine... IN THE MEAN ~TIME!!!

Just Takes 2 ++++ and a lot of Creative Effort

I often redo- and rearrange my serwing room.   It was a bit of nostalgia.... but my feeling were almost hurt when they noticed this Ancient of Days... rattan chair (they took school day pictures in them back in the 80's).   They said.... you bought that junk into your sewing room!  I was embarrassed over my $10 chair.... but NOW I'm brave --- I like it.... and that's all that matters...

Oh well, I added a new cushion.... I can sit comfortably and hand sew.   And, often my brother or the kids themselves (grandkids) can come in and sit and talk and watch TV.   I thought.. and still think it's kinda cool.....

This is the first time I've put together this this setting..... into a secondary 4-Patch White pattern show up on my Cathedral Windows.... makes me wonder how I might begin to border the quilt with it...... the place the filled up color section in the middle.  I did see it somewhere on the web...and I was bum-fuzzeled as to how they spaced out the setting.  But now that my pace is to sew 16 four patch sections... then to join them... and I roughly laid them out!

Or the reverse would be prettier???  Would I want to put SQUARE-diagonally set BIG buttons in the 4-Patch White???

I still struggle with color selection... so I chose for the contrast of good old black and whites!!

Ruching

Ruching  (pronounced  ROOSHING -- 'roo' rhymes with 'who') is a French word which means to plait. It is a very ancient sewing technique. Cindy has dated it to as far back as the Middle Ages.
A strip of fabric or ribbon is gathered in a repeat pattern and as the gathering thread is drawn up the strip forms scallops or petals.

 Opened... as a little four leaf clover.... the scizzors are rusted closed...but its just a cutey pie!

The four leaf  clover folds shut... just right!

...and.......I love these little thread packs... just to get the thread puller...
Gotta have 'em.... and an estate or garage sale is perfectly priced!
