Nat'l Museum of American Indian

Beautiful October 2026

Hello Good QUILTY FRIENDS!   COME ALONG WITH ME!

Go check out these blocks! I am enjoying this immensely and on October 17 there's going to be a Sew Along down at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian

NMAI - Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian asked quilters who are Indigenous Americans to provide quilt blocks that emphasize various time periods.

Cissy Serao presented Block #2 with a Hawaiian hand stitched-applique block pattern.

  • The Event: The Quilt Along ran from June through October 2026.
  • Block One: Designed by artist Lauren Good Day, this initial block featured a bison design representing the Pre-Contact era of the American Plains.
  • Block Three: An Emma block released in August 2026.
  • Block Five: A later step featured by artist Margaret Wood focusing on incorporating borders and specific color coordination (like blue and yellow fabrics) to unify the piece.
