Quilting while in . . Self Doubt (..it can be my Best Friend.....)
If you find yourself asking yourself (and your friends), "Am I really a writer? Am I really an artist?" chances are you are.
The counterfeit innovator is wildly self-confident.
The real artist... is scared to death.
-- Steven Pressfield, from "The War of Art." (quoted this years ago in my blog)
This little Dutch Girl Quilt was given to me (June-2009) by Madene James, here daughter Janice West is sick with cancer. My dearest adopted church mother..... sent a sack of maybe 5 quilts... hand-pieced by her mother. So aged was the fabric, stitches about to melt apart... a little dingy in aging of fabric. Fragile washing. Oversized, any which a way reverse and placement.
I'll have to take the time to resize, redo and make into a completed quilt.

I've Been Blue -- Down and Out in Spirit
But this is my best quote:
U can't always change things.

Sometimes u don't have not control over the way things go. Hail ruins the crop or fire burns u out.
And then you're just given so much to wkr with in a life and u have to do the best u can with what u got.
That's what piecing is . . . The materials is passed on to u or is all u can afford to buy . . . that just what's give to u. Your fate.
But the way u put them together is your business!

Lincoln's Bible - Let's Live By It

Lincoln's Inaugural Bible that President Obama used to make his oath of the Office of the President.
The story behind the Lincoln Bible. With the threat of civil war looming, Lincoln came to Washington in secret because many feared there would be threats on his life, said Jennifer Gavin, a spokeswoman for the Library of Congress.
Because of his quiet arrival in 1861, many of Lincoln's belongings -- including his family Bible -- were still en route from Springfield, Ill., she said. The 1,280-page Bible used by Lincoln was purchased by Supreme Court clerk William Thomas Carroll. The cover bears a shield of gold wash over white metal with the words "Holy Bible." The high court's clerks often provided a Bible for the ceremony.

Alliance for American Quilts SOS

I been asked by Judy Howard to make a statement in a patriotic flag wall hanging for a traveling exhibit--it will most likely reflect our 44th president on it ----- Take a look at this PDF file of the Obama quilts.

Me and My Machine . ..
It's a Pfaff - I'm black not german.... so duh if I can't remember the pronunciation.... Kinda aggravates me. Also believe it or not -- its a top line Creative Vision Embroidery unit. I seldom attach it... and I didn't get a color screen. I need a laptop... Thinking about a trade back or down. But then again, my learning curve is down right now. And I'm not a part of a club to learn how-to's.
Still this is my sanctuary.... I will pass by... and think and try to tidy up.... so the world will think well of me. But alas.... I'm strip sewing, and paper pieceing, and appliquing ... so many small pieces for the Art4Mail fabric post card swap....
