Timeless Thursday ~ a quiltin'

 Hello world of fellow quilters.....  Thought I might share some finished treasures from 2012-2013-2014...   my the years do fly.  Since my blog has been around since 2009-I think.... this might be a bit of reposting.

I think I'll let the quilted images speak for themselves for today.

This quilted treasure is in the book!

 This is in the making....... I feel like savoring... and saving it for someday....only when I say so!

 This is a daughters quilt project.... that I simply have to applique the berries only the log cabin blocks.

 Finished product... to be...

 Japanese folded flowers.....  a show-off quilt....YEP in bright green!

It takes four -- 4-Patches

to make a 24-window pane for ### 1 cathedral window

All neat, bagged for hand sewing to go...   This picture (above) shows Ziplock = FOUR 24-window pane units that are bagged and ready to sew

Then this is a single FOUR - joined window pane unit.  (This... I refuse to count)    Still calculating... it take THREE of these joined to spread across the foot of my bed.....   Thus... ROW ONE...

I have a silly, non-number way of calculating.... I am an accountant, and statistical analysis person by profession..... ANY WONDER I refuse to let an serious calculations ENTER INTO MY QUILTING FOR PURE PLEASURE >>>> world!!!

Making it to Thursday....

And A Friday payday....... btw.... I'm ironing and hand sewing folder flowers and Cathedral Windows.

Finishing a Cathedral Window....

My 14-inch completed cathedral window square is made up of four sewn-together 7 inch" little pressed blocks........then I have hand-sewn 24 little 2inch colorful fabric squares for a finished block...WHEW!!!

This particular square has really been my depression companion  ...  lots of down, dopey, prayer thoughts and feelings....   when I've felt like giving up.... I stitched on and on.... step by step, one at a time.... coming close to perfection.... and making it to the end!
  


Then it is so neat....   to take a blank page in my life...via the next 7" square .....starting a new one....  there's hope and beauty to be attained in my life!

 Actually, I had driven to browse an antique shop... picked up a pretty little 1920's TAM..little hat... and with all the down feelings.... I shot 4-5 self portraits with a smile.....   Just trying to make it... PTL!

II Corinthians 4:17 verse:  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory (!!)

Today is Pincushion Hand Quilting Day

Just the right size and shape for my little sewing tin....

Because I like several ready sets of thread about 24 inchs in length for the 7" cathedral window square I'm back to hand stitching...I made the easy square shaped pin cushion.... the Little band on top holds the needles well above the line.... I've had some mystery needles hidden inside of my cushion.... and I've had a surprise tingling of that special stick waiting for me whenever I'd squeeze pickup of my cushion!!!!

Golly Geessssccch Hand-stitching

is quite a task,,, tedious (make me wanna holler)!  More than a notion!   But alas! I hand stitched all of this four-patch Cathedral Window!

First to mention, is that needle size, type of thimble/push,glide and handling/wax threading/hiding knots and the like ... these things make a difference in handling the fabric. (ps...the red block is the messiest!   :)  :)

These very graceful FIFTY - ish Years are descending . . .

Cause some of my evenings to run sooooooo slowly.....  that it suits me and my cup of tea... to just iron on the Cathedral window blocks.....

At this rate.... I could probably set up a quiltin' frame and hand stitch while relaxing and watching a little Criminal Mind-less-ness on TV, and then pitch the early bedtime hour that hits me hard   :))))

I'm happy in Life....!!!

This blogging life of mine . . .  now here's another sleeping angel (a bit lazy with me around - SINCE daddy and Papa are so tough on him).   A part of my anticipated weekend adventure with grandson !!!

A Weekend Quiltin' Excursion

What's happenin . . .!!!   ???
Lordy, lordy... it is hot in Oklahoma!  I am pleased to think back over a weekend trip to Fayetteville AR (Brother's house) wherein my husband hitched a couple of guys onto his boat that was hitched onto our Jeep... so what am I to do???

I towed along my Pfaff..... my brother set up dinner, snacks, TV, talk time, and a roomy card table for me.  I packed 4-5 plastic totes of fabric.... books, tools of the trade... and a project in progress!   Cathedral Windows to cut (bought 7 yards of muslim) to fold, to iron into exact-sized squares....  and hand stitched the entire 3-hr drive to and from!

NOW.... smile.... this was my very own personal retreat!!!
